Advocacy Resources
Our advocacy resources are designed to help organizations and individuals educate policy makers on key issues of importance to family caregivers. The goal is to make it easier to take action, build strong voices, and drive meaningful change
The Older Americans Act (OAA) Advocacy Toolkit: Reauthorize OAA
The National Alliance for Caregiving (NAC) and the Act on RAISE Campaign developed this toolkit to equip caregivers and partner organizations with resources to advocate for the reauthorization of the Older Americans Act (OAA).
The OAA is at a pivotal moment. Its authorization expired in 2024. While programs continue to receive funding, they lack the updates, funding growth, and long-term stability that come only through reauthorization.
- Key talking points explaining more about the OAA, its impact and support of family caregivers, and why it must be reauthorized.
- Policy and educational resources including links to fact sheets on the OAA and the National Family Caregiver Support Program (NFCSP).
- Template social media posts and graphics to share with your networks.
- A template Letter to the Editor to raise awareness in your community.
Together, we can raise the voices of America’s 63 million family caregivers and ensure Congress understands the essential role OAA programs play in supporting families and strengthening communities.
Medicaid Advocacy Toolkit: Supporting Family Caregivers
The National Alliance for Caregiving (NAC), in support of the Act on RAISE Campaign, created this toolkit as a resource to help advocates, caregivers, and partner organizations explain the role of Medicaid in supporting family caregivers. With Medicaid at risk, it is critical to mobilize to raise awareness of the value of Medicaid and to advocate protecting essential Medicaid programs such as home- and community-based services/consumer- directed care, respite care, and other crucial resources and supports for family caregivers. We are hopeful the resources in this toolkit will help with your advocacy around the urgent need to protect Medicaid from devastating cuts and changes in policy that negatively impact family caregivers.
In this toolkit, you’ll find:
- Policy Brief: The Role of Medicaid in Supporting Family Caregivers
- Sample social media posts and branded and non-branded graphics
- Key talking points on Medicaid’s role in supporting caregivers
- Resources and reports with credible data to help tell the story of impact
Together, we can strengthen the voices of family caregivers across the U.S. to ensure policymakers understand the critical role Medicaid plays in sustaining families and communities.
